Course Number: 14
CPE Self-Study Notes:
Organizations that gain government contracts or that hire immigrant employees must pay these workers salaries at least as high as the prevailing wage for their positions. This course teaches Human Resources professionals how to determine prevailing wages. This will allow you to determine if government survey data is too high for a position, necessitating the purchase of private salary survey data for submission with a prevailing wage request.
Being in violation of prevailing wage legislation is costly to employers; yet it is not always a good idea to rely solely on government-reported data, which may be skewed. This course will explain the standards that must be followed should your company wish to conduct its own salary survey of prevailing wages. This knowledge will help you staff your organization, while protecting your company’s bottom line.
